STATE VISIT BY THE MALAGASY PRESIDENT

August 1, 2024

The President of the Republic of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, is making a state visit to Angola at the invitation of his counterpart, João Lourenço.

Having arrived in Luanda the previous day, President Rajoelina began his visit on Thursday with a tribute to the First President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, visiting his Memorial. After that, he proceeded to Cidade Alta for the official program at the Palace.

At the Presidential Palace, he was welcomed with the due ceremonial honors—21 cannons salute, national anthems, and a military parade—and was then greeted by the official Angolan delegation assembled for the occasion. The President of the Republic of Angola, as the host, accompanied the distinguished visitor throughout the visit, as documented by the images. The two Heads of State held a private meeting (tête-à-tête) before joining their respective delegations in the Council of Ministers’ meeting room.
