The Ambassador of Angola to Japan, Rui Xavier, accompanied by Ms. Ambassadress Fátima Xavier and diplomats participated in the 76th Ceremony of the Peace Memorial in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki from 6 to 9 August 2021.
The ceremony honors the victims of the atomic bombs dropped by the US on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, various members of the Japanese government, representatives of opposition parties, the diplomatic corps and Ms Izumi Nakamitsu, UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, who attended at the event in Representation of the UN Secretary General, Antônio Gueterres.
