The new General Labour Law, approved on June 15 this year, came into force on 14 September. According to the national director of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, Agostinho dos Reis Amândio, the main objectives of this new law is to promote social justice and the creation of more jobs in order to enhance economic growth.
Speaking at a seminar about the new law, Agostinho dos Reis Amândio, added that the previous labor law was in a historical, socio-economic and political context different from the present, and for this reason a new legal framework was created to provide greater accountability and dignity between employers and employees.
